Hey all, took a short backpacking trip up eagle creek over the last couple days, 6/16-6/18, with the intention of seeing how far we could get up towards tanner butte, and whether the Big Cedar Springs Camp had melted out yet. Crossing the eagle creek was possible, although deep (a little over knee height in fast moving water), we went upstream from the ford spot to find a crossing that was a little easier although still somewhat sketchy. The trail on the other side of the river is fairly overgrown, with lots of downed trees and branches that need navigating, but very follow-able and not too unpleasant. We ran into the first snow at about 2800ft, about a mile from big cedar springs camp, a couple patches soon turned into solid snow, a couple feet deep, with no signs of letting up. The trail quickly disappears so GPS is a must, although reception is spotty in the dense forest. We ended up camping about a half mile from camp on some bare flat ground, then headed back down in the morning. Looks like it will still be a while before this opens up.
