Depending on what version of the Topo software was used, GPSBabel may be able to read .tpo files and convert them to more compatible formats: http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/gpsbabel/? ... o3&out=gpxDon Nelsen wrote:I could also send you the file in .tpo format but you will need National Geo TOPO software to read it and upload the data points to your GPS unit.

Great report & Photos Van, I think this will be yet another time that I'll be following in your footsteps!

I hiked the exact same loop in June with a group of Mazama's. We had the same problem with the big rock pile in the woods. Eventually we found a good path around the right, West side. The guy in our group with the GPS said we hiked 18 miles with a 4,500 foot gain. It took us 10 hrs. and I certainly felt it at the end of the day.

Nice report and great pictures and story. I've done the hike and yes (a) it is long and (b) need experience on ridge walking (c) has minimal exposure (d) needs a lot of energy. That being said, great trip and I totally agree that the Forest Service should get on the contractor who did the Moffett Creek Bridge to repair the Gorge 400 trail (and give us back the bandit parking place to get a quick run up Munra).

18 miles! No wonder it took me 8 hours. I have got to get a better GPS.beag wrote:I hiked the exact same loop in June with a group of Mazama's.
