Timothy Lake 09-11-2010

Post by bunbunaz » September 11th, 2010, 9:22 pm

Had planned to hike to Jefferson Park today but the roads were closed. So we headed over to Timothy Lake. So just about 4 hours after leaving Vancouver we finally got our start around 11:30. We had tried this hike last year but without bug spray, the mosquitoes were just too much and we headed back early. This year we had our bug spray but didn't need it. A nice, cool fall day made for perfect hiking! No clouds and cool weather. Trail starts near little crater lake. Very small, yet has water to rival its bigger and more famous cousin. Lots of horses and a few bikes on the trail today. Great views and a nice long hike. Capped off with a trip to Full Sail Brewery in Hood River for some after hike refreshment!

Little Crater Lake
It's Little Crater Lake. Very small but as you can see, beautiful water! It's what they call an "Artesian Spring". There was crack along a fault which created the spring. At least that's what the sign says. Very pretty!
