Very nice photos and description of an area I have had my eye on this summer. What was your distance on this hike? I think the traverse is a about sixteen miles.

Thanks again for the informative report and I bet it is a beautiful place in the fall.

Thanks! Out & back to Whittier was about 13 mi RT with 2000' of gain. I allowed myself a little extra time for route finding on the trip out to Whittier.

Missed this the first time, Van -- that ledge section looks sketchy! I made a promise to myself many years ago (after a good scare) to die instantly from a freak meteor hit or semi-truck, as opposed to a long, slow bumpy death cartwheeling down some cliff... :o  :?

With the exception of that downward sloping ledge, exposure on the route is low to moderate. But if you messed-up on that ledge... Doubt there'd be much cartwheeling, just terminal gravity. My goal is to succumb slowly and graciously to good bourbon, preferably while recounting all the times I didn't fall off some ledge.

I also concur with this.
