I'm not an expert, but wildflowers look to be at their peak on Silver Star. We hiked from the NW side: FR 41/4109 up Ed's Trail and back down Silver Star Trail. It was fairly hazy—I assume from wild fires—but still super-scenic.
There's some snow in spots on the trail, but I assume it will be gone soon. Generally, the trail is in good shape. Though I would not recommend our route if you have a preschooler in a backpack. A couple of scrambling sections were a bit too loose and steep for my taste.

I want to see those flowers! What was your total mileage? I'm relatively new to the area and know that there are many ways to access Silver Star. You mentioned that you took the NW route. Being in Battle Ground, that might be the best option for me. And I think I'll leave my 2 1/2 year old at home for this one!
