Badger Creek to Badger Lake

I got the timing right this time. Snow is just patchy on the trail, the lake is melted out, but road trippers are not getting through yet. After about 8 miles in, there are a number of large logs across the trail, but only a few are awkward to get over or around. The sign at the trailhead still says 12.7 miles and my GPS still says 11 miles. A few dayhikers were leaving as I arrived. They must have been camped below.

A huge western toad, I think, on the trail - the size of my hand. Clumsy too - I saw it jump, land on sloping ground, and take a couple rolls before righting itself
