A nice remote place to go for a hike on a busy holiday weekend. I wanted to do the steep uphill after the Kinzel site to see how bad it was - not too bad. The uphill alternates between very steep fall-line and contouring/switchbacks. The trail was in good shape, few trees or brushy sections as far as I went.
I even held out hopes of continuing on to Flag Point. Nope. Ran into a group camped at the heliport who said they tried and failed due to lots of logs down and deep snow - that was all I needed to convince me not to try. They also said the School Canyon trail was in good shape too.

that looks like one of those Easter Island statues
hmmm... still too much snow most places, maybe Badger Creek would make a good backpack now

Been a little since I've been over to Badger side. Really like that wilderness, one of the first areas I regularly explored when we moved here. Still relatively quiet.
Nice spot to have an easy drinkin hefe in that last shot!
