Little Badger to Heliport

Post by drm » May 29th, 2023, 6:32 am

A nice remote place to go for a hike on a busy holiday weekend. I wanted to do the steep uphill after the Kinzel site to see how bad it was - not too bad. The uphill alternates between very steep fall-line and contouring/switchbacks. The trail was in good shape, few trees or brushy sections as far as I went.

I even held out hopes of continuing on to Flag Point. Nope. Ran into a group camped at the heliport who said they tried and failed due to lots of logs down and deep snow - that was all I needed to convince me not to try. They also said the School Canyon trail was in good shape too.

drier above the canyon but still a fair amount of shade

Been a little since I've been over to Badger side. Really like that wilderness, one of the first areas I regularly explored when we moved here. Still relatively quiet.

Nice spot to have an easy drinkin hefe in that last shot! ;)
