Wyeth Trail North Lake

Post by mmorczyk » May 22nd, 2023, 10:00 am

Our group hiked the Wyeth trail to north lake (almost) on 5/21/23. The trail is in decent shape from Wyeth Trailhead up to the "summit" about 5 miles in. There is some blowdown and the trail get progressively more vegetated but passable. After that junction the trail is hard to follow. There was also still quite a lot of snow. We almost got to the lake, but decided that between the cold, snow, and poor quality of trail, it wasn't worth it. However, a great training hike for the first several miles. Steep and plenty of beautiful wildflowers this time of year.

That two mile section from the notch to North Lake always was brushy and got less maintenance. If they didn't clear it last year when they logged out the climb, I can imagine how bad it might be.
