Trail up Altamont

Post by dorothygarcia31 » March 8th, 2023, 6:16 pm

The landowner of the forest below the Altamont summit has posted prominent "No Trespassing" signs along what the FG calls the Altamont Summit Trail including at the two junctions described in the FG. I don't yet know if there are signs on the trail if you start at the Mt Scott Blvd. entrance. This is a disappointing development since I've walked parts of this trail network 2-3 times a week since COVID hit. It always made for a pleasant after work stroll and gave me more wildlife sightings than I usually see in the national forests such as deer, howling coyotes, raccoons with distemper, and an endless supply of rabbits.

Are you referring to the Veterans Creek hike: https://www.oregonhikers.org/field_guid ... Scott_Hike ?

We revised this over a year ago to reflect those changes and no longer include Altamont.
