Moulton Falls County Park 1/14/23

Post by ChrisA » January 15th, 2023, 11:41 am

We went to Moulton Falls County Park on Saturday. We got an early enough start that we finished before the rains came. We started from the upper overflow parking lot, crossed over the bridge and went up the Bells Mountain Trail. Shortly after the Bells Mountain 0.5 mile marker, there was a trail that headed west. We took this trail ( I will call it the Connector trail) and ended up near the Hantwick trailhead. Then we came back on the main trail. Lots of people and dogs on the main trail, but only 3 people on the Connector trail. This trail was in great shape. There were several stream crossings. Most had small bridges across them. We ended up doing a loop that was close to 8 miles.

This was a typical view - lots of ferns, some big stumps and recent plantings.

Oops, senior moment. We hiked this last year. It's listed as Bell's Mt. North Slope in the field guide. We went clockwise this time and it looked mostly different but somewhat familiar!
