Elk Cove to Pinnacle Ridge Loop 9/23/22

On Friday, we hiked starting from the Elk Cove Trailhead to the Timberline Trail to Pinnacle Ridge and back along the road. The field guide mentions a bushwhack instead of the road walk. But we were starting to run out of daylight (probably due to our 11:30 trail start) and did not feel comfortable with the bushwhack. However we did see a rubber boa on the road - that was really neat. The Elk Cove trail was in better shape than the Pinnacle Ridge trail. There was not any significant blowdown on either trail, but there were a lot of shrubs and huckleberry bushes obscuring the path on the Pinnacle Ridge trail. It was a great hike, and a great day, with temps in the 50's and no wind. Along with the rubber boa, highlights included some wildflowers, quite a few huckleberries, fall colors and amazing views.
