SF Clack

Post by Nwcanyoning » September 16th, 2022, 4:08 pm

Went to the South Fork Clackamas today to check out what it is looking like. The drainage experienced very hot burn during the Riverside Fire of 2020. We did not look at the hikers way down but the area looks much different since the summer 2020. The new growth is thick and thorny. The old bridge that once was at the confluence at Memaloose Creek and the SF is gone with a pipe left. Please do not use this pipe or the one next to Clackamas Falls as a slip would be devastating. A safer option is to use a different ld growth log (at the confluence) and walking around and through a gulley at CF. Anywho, the 45 is still gated. We swam the Clackamas to get to the fun stuff quicker. This probably isn’t a good idea for some but it’s what we did.

Thanks for the report and the photos. I guess anyone wanting to get in there using dry land will have to blaze new trails.
