Meadows Loop

Post by drm » August 8th, 2022, 7:08 am

Did the Mt Hood Meadows Loop yesterday: Umbrella Falls, Timberline, Newton Ck, Elk Meadows trails. There was a trail running race on the first part - step aside again and again and again for runners. But conditions were great: waterfalls, flowers, the incomparable Clark Canyon - and almost no bugs. A very few biting flies. I used no spray and got one bite.

The various trails were in great shape, though the Newton Ck trail has not been cleared of trees yet. There are not that many as to make it onerous, but it does have quite a few to step over and a detour or two.

Yes, that one picture is of Heather Falls. Clark Canyon is a pretty awesome sight. Nice to see all the flowers. Agreed there are some trees on the Newton Creek Trail as I hit them a couple of weeks ago on a loop to Elk Meadows, Lamberson Butte and back down the NC Trail. At that time flowers were good in Elk Meadows but not in full bloom higher up.

Looks like a beautiful day. Hoping to get out that direction this week and the next few as well.
