Vista Ridge Overnight

Post by pdxteresa » July 11th, 2022, 6:38 pm

July 9-10 I hiked up Vista Ridge trail hoping to camp at Wy'East Basin, but there is still way too much snow to get there without crampons. We camped in a clear site at the intersection with the Eden Basin Trail. There were no mosquitos, and the avalanche lilies were in full glory. The lower portion of the trail has only a few blowdowns, and thick snow fields with tree wells started around 5,000 feet elevation.

Pretty in the snow. Nice to see the avalanche lilies out.
