Sword Fern Way
Completed a lollipop loop of Bells Mountain trail and Sword Fern Way. The "loop" part of the hike was overgrown. Wished I'd worn pants instead of shorts, but it was too hot.
After the hike, we cooled off in the pool by Moulton Falls, along with hundreds of others.

Tweakers scrapped the tower?!
I haven't worn shorts in years. Mosquitoes, ticks, poison oak, sunburn, thorns, ugly legs...

Interesting - I did the same hike on Jan. 21st and the tower was there. I think that was the highest point on the mountain and a good location, so it seems odd if it was relocated elsewhere. I wonder what's going on?

I can confirm the photo posted by Sugar Pine above is indeed the location where the tower used to be. I was up there today. Interesting that the site was rehabilitated (not a bunch of junk left behind, they took it all). In a couple years, the enigmatic dead-end spur road will be the only evidence there was ever any development here.
