Camped about 7 miles up Eagle Creek Tuesday night, just below 7 1/2 Mile Camp, which was mostly filled with a PCTA trail crew. There are far fewer camps on Eagle Creek and arriving at 1pm, I got the last site in the area, though that wouldn't have been the case without the trail crew. Still, it was Tuesday. I got the only site that was really away from that group. I would never go camping there on a weekend again. At about 8pm some late arrivals camped near me - sort of in my site. But I think on Eagle Creek, that is now to be expected. Maybe it needs a reservation system?
The upper canyon was also well toasted from the fire. High intensity burn for most of it, though my campsite was a rare oasis of green trees. 7 1/2 is all burned. Brush and black sticks.
I didn't get past the viewpoint, but talked to somebody who said snow started at about 10.5 miles, which I guess puts it just past Indian Springs junction?
Oh, and it rained (not forecast), my phone battery died, and my chair broke.
