Steam Donkey trail and Bloom Lake 4/30/22

Post by ChrisA » May 1st, 2022, 1:29 pm

I had a conference in Seaside and noticed some trailheads on highway 26. So we went back on Saturday to travel the Steam Donkey trail and Dooley Spur from the rest area. It was very pleasant. A nice walk through the woods while only seeing one other group on the trail. The greenery and forest was a nice change from the open east end of the gorge hikes.

Then we went to the Bloom Lake trail and had another very pleasant hike. Saw three other pair of hikers.

Both trails were in great shape, although a little muddy in spots due to some rain we have been having this spring. Saw some wildflowers - trilliums, pink fawn lillies and scouler's corydalis, and skunk cabbage. And the weather cooperated, only a few showers, mostly overcast and some sunbreaks.

These are nice pit stops on the 26 route to the coast, and I've always been grateful for them.
