Green Point Mtn

Post by mountainkat » March 7th, 2022, 8:25 pm

I've been avoiding snow, but, wanting a longer hike, I finally gave in and some friends and I hiked out to Green Point Mtn on Sunday 3/6/22. We looped it by going out Herman Creek and back on Nick Eaton. Snow started around 3800 ft elevation on the Herman Creek side. Nick Eaton still had snow in parts, especially on the northeast side. We carried snowshoes and never used them, of course. About 19 miles roundtrip, 5400 ft gain over the loop. Definitely a workout, but, it was an awesome day in a great place!

Cedar Swamp. Plenty of downed trees between Casey Creek and Whiskey Creek. Slowed us a down a little, but, it wasn't bad. Some folks have helped remove limbs from many of the downed trees.

Nick Eaton sign. Snow was patchy, trail gets fainter and fainter each year. Some fun snow slopes on NE side of ridge to get through, but, overall not terrible.

End of day. We made it out before dark, which was better than expected.

Wow, that's a big hike Kat! I'm surprised you didn't hit snow until 3800', but good to hear.
