Owyhee Trip

Post by Sugar Pine » May 27th, 2021, 2:33 pm

Also visited the Owyhees recently. Unfortunately, it rained and we found our tires coated in a thick layer of clay and rocks coming back from Painted Canyon, so we avoided Chalk Basin and Three Forks. Did more tourist stops on the way back (Juntura and Crane Hot Springs, Sumpter, Granite sort of ghost town).

so we avoided... Three Forks.
You didn't miss much. The hot spring looks cool, but if that isn't on your agenda, there isn't much reason to go down there.

(By the way, the itchy-making plants out there are poison-ivy, not poison-oak.)

I got out of there just before the rain rolled in, I think. Still looks like you had a pretty good trip. Amazing how the roads there turn from concrete to muck when they get a little wet.
