The tread is super dry almost everywhere on the hike and seems to be even rockier. There's also been continued erosion at numerous locations. However, it's still a very beautiful hike with many expansive viewpoints and enough grade to give the lungs a workout. We did the trail counterclockwise, up to the top and along the ridge to the junction. We took Don's cutoff and it's in very good shape, hardly any debris there. Connected to the Hardy Creek trail for the return to the start.
Alltrails indicated 8.4 miles and 2300' elevation gain which doesn't seem correct but.....
No luck seeing any critters this time, have seen deer and even a bear in past years.
Not too may people after Pool of the Winds, about half had masks they pulled up when passing, everyone very friendly and having a good time.
