Lyle Cherry Orchard
I did not see a permit box when I visited.
Hiked a portion of this trail Tuesday 4/6/21. 2.65 miles w/869ft elevation gain. This is definitely not an easy hike, you have to climb up to the top of the gorge mountains to get to the homestead. The trail is narrow, there are poison plants everywhere, some slick pebbly trails up high and there are numerous talus fields to cross. This trail was recently re-routed by WA trail association. There are a couple of great viewpoints in the distance I went. The flowers are really popping and I made it home without a tick incident. I also watched a stunning moon rise and sunrise.

Friends of the Gorge, who own and manage this land, have added a one mile lollipop loop to the end of the trail. It passes some viewpoints and a large sloping meadow.
Re: Lyle Cherry Orchard
That is one unsightly filter.
Re: Lyle Cherry Orchard
Lovely photos! Thank you for sharing. I’ve never hiked the Gorge at sunrise or sunset.

It's as if monotropa couldn't let that criticism stand, and joined the board just to balance things out. Welcome!
SFH's style in photography, as in other matters, is certainly distinctive.

Thank you Chip Down! I’ve been a reader of this forum for years and volunteer for TKO but not so much a forum contributor. The trip reports are one of my favorite things to read past trail descriptions. Maybe someday I’ll write a report . In the meantime attached are some photos from my hike and snack today on Silver Star #180. Bring your crampons if you go. The ice on the slope is still pretty thick in spots.
I do want Solofemalehiker35 to know though that I do appreciate seeing something a bit different on here. Keep posting Solofemalehiker35!! And thank you to everyone who posts!

Thanks for the report and photos. Great sunrise photo, and I love the closeup photo of the Shooting Star. I also love the penultimate and third from last photos. The light and shading is just amazing on the penultimate flower (some sort of balloon flower?), and the third from last expresses the airiness and delicate intricacy of the flower. Makes me feel like I shouldn't bother posting my flower photos, which look pedestrian next to these.
