Visited Tuesday 3/9/21 to check out the Fort Cascades Historic Site and the Strawberry Loop. Saw 2 other people and their dog on trail. Fort Cascades TH has a clean stocked bathroom with a metal vaulted toilet. 2 handicap parking and the trails are flat dirt, not paved. Great for young children! Lots of historical sites marked with waist high posts. Beautiful views of the Columbia River Gorge. The Fort Cascades TH has parking enough for 10+ vehicles, with one handicap space available. There are a couple of picnic areas. There is no fee to park here. 5.01 miles w/85ft elevation gain.
Historical sites to see; Warren's Fishwheel, 1894 Flood Site, McNeil's Grave, Cascades Portage Railroad, Warren's Portage Tramway, Indian Replica Petroglyph ( I did not see this one, but read the real petroglyph is in a building in town somewhere). There's also a bird Blind to the NW of the water plant.
The Strawberry Loop was great, but also muddy! Lots of scenic benches and beautiful views.
In late summer and early fall if the water is low enough you can hike to Ives Island via Hamilton Island Trailhead.
