White River Trail, OR

Post by Solofemalehiker35 » March 14th, 2021, 8:55 am

Visited Sunday 3/7/21, the sno park was groomed alot better than the previous year. There was a thin dusting of snow on top of icy pavement. The bathrooms are still stinky (strong amonia) but were a lot more clean. The park was not as busy as when I visited 2020, same time of year. Only two big groups training at 8am. Around 12pm the families were out with their kids, etc (not a lot of masking up going on), but the parking lot was still less than half full. Avy Danger (pinwheels and cornices) make going up to timberline from white river impossible right now. The trail on the way back was icy (a couple of us had accidents when our snowshoes hit the icy snow the wrong way). 3.3 miles with 615ft elevation gain.

Looking West, no views of Hood that day.
