This kind of view is not so unusual high up on Hood in the winter, if you can get there. But I'm at about 1000 feet near Coyote Wall. Usually the east Gorge inversion is thicker than that. I had to descend back into the gloom on the descent, though the sun was starting to break through at ground level by the time I got all the way down. Timing was just right.
But in a way, better to not get this view from on Hood, better to get it with Mt Hood in the background.
