October Wallowa day hike

Post by backcracker » October 19th, 2020, 8:16 pm

Weather looked favorable so I headed to the Wallowas on Sat 10-17-20 for a day hike knowing this was the last opportunity before the high country was closed. Drove from the Tri Cities arriving at Two Pan trailhead and started hiking at 8:45 am. Headed up the E Lostine to Mirror Lake then up over snow covered Ivan Carper pass to Minam Lake and out the W Fork Lostine back down to Two Pan TH. It’s an 18 mile loop. 7hrs hiking time and 7 hours driving time made for a long but rewarding day.

Beautiful! I love hikes like that where there's just enough snow for contrast/scenery but not enough to slow you down.

Amazing that you can get that far in one day. I wish my body was up to that. Nice to see the area with snow on it. I was in the area last year; you even have a photo of my campsite by Mirror ;-) Thanks for sharing.
