I went up to check out the Timberline trail from Cloud Cap.

I went 8 miles CCW almost to Cairn Basin and 4 miles CW to the high point. Everything is open and clear. No fires, no wind damage. I threw a few branches off the trail, maybe a few more than normal for september.

Constant haze but it was never noticeable where I was

There should be bears there the next month, and over to Cairn Basin - keep camera ready. I only saw a little bear poop.

Nice camp spot about 1/4 mile south of the high point. You go down 300 feet elevation, then 50 feet back up. Then there's an obvious side trail going another 50 feet up.

Sort of a "failed tarn" up above:

Nice view of Mt Hood, frequent rockfall:

I'm thinking that severe wind damage is localized to the area around Ramona Falls, Bald Mountain.

I ran into several oregonhikers.org people that recognized my picture, good to say hi
