looked again - My first day was Aug 11. Aug 12 I hiked from between Goat Lake/Snowgrass to Old Snowy on the trail, back down, so I missed you
A lot of people though, probably some oregonhikers.org people.
Ever present Mt Adams from near Goat Lake:
I don't think I've ever seen so many flowers as those several days

Everyone takes that photo. If you want to distinguish yourself add a human element.

A whole family! You can barely see them, but three more behind.

I recently came across this cool old photo in 100 Hikes in Western Washington (Text by Louise B. Marshall, Photographs by Bob and Ira Spring). The copyright on the book is 1966 so the photo is probably from around that time. Based on that hill in the background it appears to be taken in the vicinity of your PCT junction photos above (maybe that cairn in the background is the junction?), although look how much the trees have encroached in the last 50 years! Also, I didn't know there had been a shelter there once.

Hikers were so much more fashionable then (if a lot less comfortable.) I love those old Mountaineers books.justpeachy wrote: ↑August 20th, 2020, 12:43 pmI recently came across this cool old photo in 100 Hikes in Western Washington (Text by Louise B. Sheryl,
Thanks for the posting that pic! That old-style pack must have been really uncomfortable. Oh yeah, I had one of those - and it was uncomfortable, but I was a lot younger.

The pack in the photo from the Mountaineeers book looks like a Trapper Nelson. I got one for Christmas in 1945. I still have it. It was much more comfortable than the army surplus packs that were widely in use.
