Went up the whitewater trail to Jefferson park which is as glorious as ever but left early due to the bloodthirsty clouds of mosquitoes. Went very early on a Thursday and were lucky to get a good site. People arriving Friday and Saturday had a much tougher time— people kept coming after sites were filled, rangers were moving people out of meadows, not sure where they went. Have never seen so many people up there—the permit system can’t come soon enough. The park ridge trail was pretty quiet in comparison— hiked to the ridge on Friday, some snow on the trail but nothing difficult.
