Backpacked into Big Slide Lake on the Dickey Creek trail this weekend. Road conditions: forest service posted that 6340 not recommended for passenger cars, and I believe it. There is a washout section before the Dickey Creek turnoff that might high center a low clearance vehicle. Trail conditions: lots of blowdown. Dozens of down trees that have to be climbed over, scooted under, or at least stepped over. I'm sore not from hiking but from hefting my pack off, on, off, on. Just past a small, dry campsite, maybe half mile before the lake, the trail is covered up by a tree that fell along the length of it. We walked on the trunk down into the ravine, where we could jump off and pick up the trail again. Almost no mosquitoes on the trail but they were bothersome at the lake.

Re: Dickey Creek
Looks like the flowers are doing well up there. Bummer about all the blowdown. MHNF seems to have more or less abandoned that area except to sell the trees around the wilderness. Be nice if they put some of those funds into basic road and trail maintenance. Thanks for the update
