Quick note that the Eight Mile Creek segment (the north-west section of this loop hike) is temporarily closed as of June 10, 2020 for "livestock wildfire fuel reduction".
The only suggestion of this closure found on the north side (near the Dalles Mountain Ranch) was a barbed wire fence/gate blocking access to the trail segment. It was unclear if the user could continue using the trail (opening and closing the gate)... or if it was an intended closure. However, the lower end of this Eight Mile Creek segment was signed w/ a closure notice.
To complete the loop (which we'd started from the lower Crawford Oaks trail head ascending via the eastern Vista Loop), we back-tracked down the Vista Loop Trail to the Military Road that bi-sects the loop... then proceeded west back to the Access Road route returning to the Crawford Oaks parking.
