I stayed a night at Yapoah Lake with Boy Scouts in August 2014. There are numerous good camping spots at the south end of the lake. And there is a nice grass shoreline.

I had thought the Pole Creek fire didn’t get so close to the lake. There was so much deadfall that we didn’t even want to bother going around the lake. Seems a dangerous place to stay with so many potential trees falling.
You can see which areas burned by going to caltopo.com and choosing the Fire History layer. It'll show an overlay of the burn area along with the name of the fire and the year it happened. A lot of forest has burned in that area in recent years.

Thanks, justpeachy, I should have checked that! And wow dirtman, it sadly looks like a different lake from your trip. I’d say maybe only 5-10 percent of trees are still green. And that verdant grassy shore you had is currently underwater and had lots of deadfall in that area. Glad you were able to enjoy it back in 2014.
