Buck Peak - 7/20/19

During a camping trip with friends at Lost Lake, I took the dog for a hike up the Huckleberry Mountain Trail to the PCT. On a similar trip last year we turned south, so this time we went north.
Plenty of PCT thru-hikers out there now, thanks to the high snow in the Sierra mountains making a muck of everyone's plans. Not many bugs either, though a few eventually found me when we stopped for lunch.
Making better progress than I thought, we decided to head up Buck Peak. The trail was marked only by a remnant of a sign lying on the ground on which I could make out a triangle. Just into the trail, there's a halfway decent dry camp site, bisected by a tree that had fallen across it. There's still probably room for a not too big tent on either side.
The trail is brushy and has one downed tree that was easily ducked under. We had the summit to ourselves and didn't see anyone else on the side trail.
