I don’t know the Rogue River area (I live in Virginia, and am mostly lurking on this board while I prepare for a trip on Mt. Hood in a couple of weeks). That said, if it’s at all ticky there, I absolutely would not wear shorts.

Back east, where I more or less assume I’ll encounter ticks on any trip into the blue ridge, I always wear long pants with permethrin treatment. If I think I’m likely to have to walk through grass at all, I add gaiters.

(All of that said, the east coast is a different world for ticks - Lyme is much more prevalent here.)

wear long pants

that's best for many reasons - sun, bugs of all sorts

spray outside of boots, socks, and pants with permethrin. Don't get it on your skin, let it dry for a day. I use Sawyer

you can also wash it in, but that seems like more of a hassle

I always wear gaiters and treat the outside of them, but probably most people think they look weird

Maybe treat outside of shirt (long sleeves are best)

you don't need to treat your tent. Ticks sit on brush and wait for a mammal to brush against, then hitch a ride. If the outside of your clothes are treated, the ticks won't climb aboard, or if they try they'll fall off, maybe dead

pretty hot down there now
