Angels Rest to Multonomah Falls Hike

Started from the Angels Rest TH by 10.30am, it was packed. The trail to the summit of Angels rest was slick in many places (gooey clay) and not much of fire damage. But once past Angels summit, the devastation is dramatic and severe. I was looking for foxglove way, but could not make out, one hiker coming from the other side said that its heavily over grown and had to bush whack. So continued on #415 to Wakheena. Several groups of TKO were at work clearing and fixing the trail. UP until the junction leading to Larch/Devils/Wakheena the trail was covered with weeds and brush. There were several runners and hikers, with continued foot traffic it should get better.
From Multnomah drove to Horse tail falls, did a short hike up to Pony Tail falls (trail closed beyond that point). A great fellow hiker "N" gave me a ride back to Angels Rest TH where I had parked my car. A wonderful hike covering ~10 miles!

Oh, didn't know it was open. There's a trail I have my eye on, hoping it's open this winter, or at least hoping I can sneak in ;)
Is there a way to fix the orientation at upload?
I wonder too.

My understanding is that the current opening is limited to 25' of the listed trails. The foxgloves and primrose aren't official trails and shouldn't be being hiked right now.

thanks a bunch Lurch ... i did not know that Foxgove is not an official trail. Checked my national geographic and dont see it. The way to get to devils rest would be to go from #415 to #419, and #420c.

Interestingly, a search on OH portal shows this "devils rest" loop hike, where the loop would be completed from #420c with foxglove.

under the present conditions, i would not venture anywhere outside the designated trails, its just unsafe.

It would be 415 > 420 > 420c... You could do 419 if you wanted but not necessary

Most of the Foxglove loop was old logging roads and then the FS plowed parts so that they would not be used. Bus Gibson with the Mazamas and some of us after the '91 Fire cut out 42 logs and signed the junctions so people would not get lost as was happening earlier. Have kept brushing until the Eagle Creek Fire. Did not get to put up a pumpkin again this year at Devils Rest. My sign with the elevation 2,450' is gone but TKO put up a sign so people actually know they are at Devils Rest. A little anticlimactic when you get there as the Devil has no view.

I was there today and saw a portion of the old sign lying on a rock a few feet from the new sign. I also checked and was happy to see that the "devil sledding" sign at the top of the Primrose was still there. But I'm not sure whether the kid who set the fire will be spared "a pox on he."
