I've mourned the probable loss of the ponderosa pine (or are there a few of them?) at the Harris Ranch. I always loved getting to the buildings and seeing the big tree(s).

Did it get burned to a crisp?
Believe it or not, I barely ever ride a mountain bike.

I wasn't out that far Charley, so I can't say, but from every report I've heard/read, if it was standing in the fire's way, it got burned - if the railroad car and buildings were burned, the tree likely took a big hit, however, as you hike along the trails many of the trees got burned but perhaps not to their core and deep into the root structure. If any one knows for certain, it would be nice to know.

I assume he's referring to the ones around the small buildings (that were) on either side of the road between the main ranch and the water tower:

Sorry, the Railroad water towers about 11 miles in.

I saw photos that Sean Thomas posted, all the trees near the old homestead are either gone or burnt to a crisp. Nothing left standing.
