The trail is clear. Tough as ever. But unfortunately, black is the new green.

Met Mike aka Goaltech on the descent. He did the full loop. We took the Ridge Cutoff to Gorton Creek.

Some observations:
No critters, big or small.
No bugs. Didnt have a flyby until the 6th mile.
Tons of tiger lilies.

The hanging meadow overlooking Herman Creek Valley is not the happy place it used to be.

It's true many views have opened up, and you see some things you never knew were there.
But the smell of soot and thousands of burned trees are a real bummer.

My husband and I backpacked in this area two years ago, and I had been wondering how it all looked with last summer's fire. Thanks for posting the pictures!

Thanks for posting. Interesting tree pictures. Area should look better in a couple years. Based on recent fires on Mt Hood and Three Sisters.

Great to see you out there Arturo! My post is a little tardy due to Beaver baseball priorities. Maybe later tonight. Great visiting with you!
