Long time lurker here...seldom poster. As a parent of two young kids (3 and 5) I don't see as many TRs with kids, so I thought I'd share this recent trip of ours if it interests other parents.
We did a short overnight trip this last weekend to Badger Creek starting at Bonny Crossing. The trail seems generally well situated for kids. Low gradient and generally smooth trail (little legs seem to trip a lot!). We did encounter a rattlesnake about a mile in. It kindly let us know it was there and got out of the way. I saw others have recently posted about rattler encounters here so just watch your step.
We got a late start on Saturday and didn't go very far in. Found a nice site about a mile in and called that good. We set up camp, did a little fishing, and then hiked further up the trail in the evening. It really is a lovely spot. A nice mix of wildflowers seemed close to their prime, the stream babbles it's way down the valley, and the trees are an interesting mix of oak, pine, alder, the and the occasional cedar.
Of course we had our usual kid challenges, like fights over who gets the first sip of gatorade and bonks from falling out the hammock, but overall it was a great time and my wife and I are relishing the fact that hiking is becoming fun and easier again.
Here are few images:
Camp in the morning
Small beautiful redband rainbow are prevalent and hit nearly everything. We caught and released a few, and then spent time just watching them in the clear water eat bugs floating overhead.
Evening wildflower walk
Guess who likes hot chocolate?
Nice fishing spot
Happy hiking!

I loved finding trips like these when my kids were that young. Thanks for sharing.

I love all the photos of your kiddos! The hot chocolate one should be printed and hung up somewhere, it's super cute!
I enjoy seeing adventures with kids. As someone who wants to have kiddos someday (sooner rather than later) and who wants to continue to be active outdoors, I find it really inspirational! So thanks!

I still check in here once in a while, and I spotted your wonderful photos. The grin on the face of your young fisherman is priceless! So are the wildflower walk and the hot cocoa! This is the kind of trip report I love!
