Badger Creek Overnight 2018

Post by dgweston » June 5th, 2018, 7:37 pm

About this time last year I overnight backpacked in Badger Creek Wilderness. I saw (and heard) a rattlesnake, so it was an exciting and memorable trip.

This year's trip I covered many more miles, but things were more tame. No major highlights, other than deep blue skies. The kind you don't get to see on the west side of the Cascades. I didn't quite make it all the way to Badger Creek Lake, but it was a full day nonetheless.

Silvery Blue Butterflies (I think) - love watching them flitting around the pools

I keep finding Calypso orchids. Not a bad thing.

Phacelia of some sort. They are strange plants. Not the most spectacular, but ever since one turned up in my garden (from seed), I'm excited to see one in the wild.

Badger mushroom snake, indeed
I missed your earlier TR, but pleased to see I wasn't the only one whose thoughts went that direction.
