Tryon Creek; George Himes-Willamette Park Loop

Post by bobcat » January 16th, 2017, 5:15 pm

My snow days have been pockmarked with responsibilities, so in addition to getting in a good short ski out of my back door and around Gabriel Park for six days in a row, I've just managed a couple of short outings entered into the Field Guide by someone named bobcat.

1. Tryon Creek Outer Loop Hike

This was a fine jaunt through the sugar snow and lumpy frozen mud. There's a diversion through a bit of Lake Oswego to make it a true loop and also a number of trees down. The footbridge over Nettle Creek has been hit and the High Bridge is officially closed, but judging by the well tamped down deck past the red tape, 95% of the citizenry is ignoring the warning.

2. George Himes-Willamette Park Loop Hike

This little loop takes you down under both Barbur and I-5 to the river at Willamette Park. Then it's back up through the Fulton Neighborhood and the 99-step alley before crossing Barbur into Burlingame to get some views of the Cascades.

Field guide post coming for that second hike? I'm interested in your route.

I put it in a week or so ago. It's linked in the title for that part of the TR: https://www.oregonhikers.org/field_guid ... _Loop_Hike

Thank you! Sometimes Field Guide submissions slide in there with little notice, until I go back in and look periodically at how many entries there are from when i first started using it in 2008! The list is indeed growing. :D  :ugeek:
