That would be a mixed media cairn. Clearly made by a cairn artist...

(This batch IS potentially troubling no matter how you slice it, since trails on slickrock rely on cairns to keep you on course. Fortunately, all the "artistic" cairns were in one spot where it was impossible to get lost.)
