Ape Canyon 6/7/16

Post by dfs1109 » June 9th, 2016, 7:27 am

Beautiful hike along the muddy river that climbs the spine of a ridge up to the Plains of Abraham. The view from the plains are spectacular in all directions! We went all the way to the 3 way junction of the Plains of Abraham/Loowit TR/Windy Ridge TR which is well signed. From their we turned around and retraced our steps.

GPS 64st: 13 miles

We walked until we reached the Lootwit tr (in photo heading NW) and Windy Ridge tr. Windy Ridge tr is to the right of this photo and continues north.

That's a great hike, and a great time of year for it.
The mountain is so inviting up high, with such a nice combination of snow and bare ground.
Would be fun to just pick a random route or two or three, and spend a day exploring.
And I agree with maobie15, the snow angel pic is cool.
