John Day River – Cottonwood Canyon State Park – 11/27
John Day River – Cottonwood Canyon State Park – 11/27
The day after Thanksgiving we drove about 2 hours to the Cottonwood Canyon State Park. We got there around 10AM and the day was incredible – sunny and between 15 & 20 degrees with a light dusting of snow. There are two 4+ mile trails along the river – one in the sun and one in the shade. We took the sunny route.

There were small icebergs cycling around this rock in an endless backcurrent.
Not a soul there the whole time. Just some geese and ducks until we saw some….
Bighorn sheep far up on the rim.
Incredibly serene.
The park campground.
Excellent and very different hike.

You can: there should be a small "Edit" button at the bottom right of your original post. (I'm very glad this exists: without it, nearly every post I've ever done would be a disaster.)McChaix wrote:Yeah, I'm a rookie at this. You can edit it after its been posted?
