Lower Ruckel Creek & Ruckel Creek Falls

Post by forestkeeper » December 1st, 2015, 9:39 pm

Hey hikers. I headed to lower Ruckel Creek and Ruckel Creek Falls Saturday. Never been to Ruckel Creek before and seen the falls through the trees as I was headed to Cascade Locks after I hiked on the Eagle Creek last week. The short hike on the 400 from Eagle Creek to the new paved State Trail, was pretty good. There was a lot of branches on the trail from last week's wind & rain storm.

Then, near the junction with the paved state trail, there is a huge blowover across the trail.

Ruckel Creek was beautiful. Here's a couple of pics of the creek and falls:

Hey Will, "what Miah said!" Nice shots. Really nice. You must be lugging along a tripod now, huh?

Nice photos, Will! And thanks for the recon on the trail -- if you haven't already, you could also post those over on the Trail Rx forum where Edan at the USFS is likely to see them. Thanks!

Tom :)

Oh yeah!!! :D Carrying that extra 4.5 pounds adds to the endurance while I hike up long distances. Every weekend in July & August, I was carrying that tripod up to 7 1/2 Mile Falls on the Eagle Creek (I fell in love with the scenes up there that I just went up there every weekend for two months, working on my endurance. ;) ).

Nice! That is such a special trail; one I do far more often than most, as well.

(And, now you're all set to (needlessly) carry snowshoes all winter long, too. ;))

I sure hope so!!! Last year I bought snowshoes but then we didn't get any snow. This year (so far) it snowed, then melted off. Fingers crossed that we get some more on the trails. I want to get some cool snow-scapes. :)
