The family went camping this weekend, to do a couple new hikes. Maggie just turned 4, and works harder than most people I know.
First was Tam MCAurthur Rim. I wanted to try it, but 5.5 miles and 1200 elevation gain? "We can always turn around" I said. My wife said "If we start it we finish it." Hmmm...
Camp site
View from camp up to the Rim.
Magsy's new backpack, just like Daddy's.
Heading to the trailhead a couple hundred feet.
Some steep parts, she never complained once on the way up.
Entered the Wilderness proper part way up.
Snow!
This is where elk hang out.
Got to the look out! Ate some snack, and played in the snow.
Doggie photo bomb
Maggie got tired and grumpy on the way down. I think 800-900 feet are our max for our 4-5 mile hikes. I'm so very proud of my daughter and my wife. Happy to have an outdoorsy family.

Way to go!! Yeah, 4 flat miles is about the max for my four year old. I usually bribe the kids with ice cream after the hike for some extra motivation.

Thanks! Gummy worms mid hike "for energy" worked well.
One thing we try to work on it not to hurry them. However, when you're doing 5+ miles it takes up a large chunk of the day.
