Thank you for sharing about such a lovely place and the nuances of your growth on your journey through it.
I am sure many readers will [once again] find in your words encouragement and/or a continuing challenge to be purposeful about growth in their own lives.
... There is a lot of charged opinion and rhetoric out there on "the issues of marijuana." Your discussion about your personal assessments and decisions regarding marijuana is commendable in that it points to a greater unfulfilled need: acknowledgement is needed from all sides that more high-quality information is necessary to inform the robust policy decisions that we as a society should be striving for.
From a medical perspective, there is still much to be learned and the potential is vast. Obligatory heart-wrenching example: http://www.wired.com/2015/07/medical-ma ... -epilepsy/
The academic/scientific infrastructure exists, but funds and permission are needed to facilitate the research and round out our understanding. http://www.nature.com/news/the-cannabis ... nt-1.18201

Hi Sean,
Sorry for the very late response, but I had to tack on my $.02.
First, I applaud your decision to no longer RUI. I think that you (and your lungs) will enjoy your treks more as a result.
Second, that is a fantastic trip report! I had already seen the opening photo (with the paintbrush in the foreground) when you posted it in the OregonWildflowers FB group. You should print and frame it. Seriously!
Plus, when you receive accolades such as this one (from someone who is renowned for his energy)...

Really wonderful report Sean! Congrats on the smoking decision. This was an awe inspiring report for me. Even more so, since I just came back from 4 days in the Goat Rocks. That upper Walupt lake Trail really is rocky. I had to pick my way down it, I imagine your slow though would probably seem fast to me Beautiful area and you caught some pics!!

Wow, great trip! I think I could make this in roughly 3 or 4 days It's interesting how things that need to be addressed seem acceptable when we're under the influence of whatever. Good on you for deciding to truly live your life.
