Decided I need to head up north a little more, and after seeing some reports that things were snow free. I decide to go up to The Rampart lakes up off of i90 by the Snoqualmie pass. Left 5:30am Friday morning and were at the Rachel lake TH at 9am. After 4 miles we made it to Rachel Lake.
After Rachel you head around the right of the lake and climb the ridge with the views getting better with each step.
After bout .6 of a mile you hit the ridge top and come to a junction, with Lila lake and Alta mtn. to the right, or our destination Rampart lakes to the left. Each set of lakes is only a mile either way, so easy to check both out, even on a day hike. Next thing we knew we arrived at the set of lakes, and was completely in awe of what we saw...
There was only 2 other tents up around the lake but the wind was blowing quite strong so we tried to get a good spot but also blocked by some trees...
After we ate some food we decided to see if we could get up high for some better views. So just followed a couple paths up to the high point above the lakes...
Then we just kept following some trails around the backside, to other lakes/tarns. Over every hill and around every corner was another body of water....
By then it was getting late so we headed down.
Next morning we got up and headed to Lila lake and Alta mtn. Lila is about 2 miles from Rampart lakes, and the cutoff to Alta is spurs off bout a half mile before Lila. we headed to Lila first, and it was more of the same.....
From there it was up the ridge to the top of Alta....

Back towards Rampart lakes....
After that, we headed back to rampart packed our stuff and headed out. Ended up being 21 miles, 7600ft eg, and about 700 pictures. One of the best overnights ive ever done. Well worth the trip. Highly recommended if you've never been up that way. Only saw about 6 people all day Friday, but coming down was a different story. So weekdays are best, like anywhere else popular. But still worth it in my opinion.

Very nice. The lack of snow is insane - it looks like late August!!

Yes, very beautiful place. Thanks Everyone. Friday day and night saw no bugs at all but wind was blowing pretty good. Woke up sat, bout 7 and still no bugs, by 9-10am they were swarming. It was a very drastic change from the day before. Was glad we were only spending the one night at that point.

Awesome pictures! No wonder why this place is so popular.
Half way thru trip report I just scrolled up to see the date, thought it's late summer report "bumped up" from last year...Bosterson wrote:Very nice. The lack of snow is insane - it looks like late August!!

Nice. If you like lakes, it's hard to beat the Alpine Lake Wilderness. There's all kinds of stuff like that.

Gorgeous photos, and they bring back good memories. Used to spend a lot of time in Alpine Lakes when I lived in the Seattle area.
