Tire Mountain Wildflower Display

Post by LakeOHiker » June 28th, 2014, 6:25 pm

An easy hike in the Willamette National Forest with snowy peak views and loads of wildflowers. We went June 24th, and escaped the rain in the valley. Here are a few of the unusual flowers we found, plus there were at least forty more varieties of the more common, even Balsamroot was in bloom. Pictures were from my IPhone 4, not too bad, but it does take a lot of battery. Not sure of the Mariposa varieties but I had help with the other ones!

Thank you for the report and the photos. I love Tire Mountain, but have not been able to squeeze it into my schedule this year. :(

Regarding the Cat's Ears, the first one is Calochortus subalpinus, and the second (fuzzy) one is Calochortus tolmiei.
