Silverfalls Sate Park 2-25
Silverfalls Sate Park 2-25
The weather was nice yesterday so we set out to Silver Falls State Park. We arrived around 1:15 so we didn't have time to do the whole ten falls trail but I got to see most of what I wanted to. It was a beautiful walk. Hope you enjoy!

Wow, yeah. I was down there myself, last Friday, and totally agree! Hadn't been there since the mid-80s, and really just forgot what a treasure it is. Really smart to go there on a weekday, too! I don't think I crossed paths with more than a dozen people all day. You?ah23393 wrote:It was a beautiful walk. Hope you enjoy!

There were about four couples that we saw the whole time. there were a quite a few cars at the North Falls parking lot but hardly saw any people the whole time. It was my first visit there and was more beautiful than I expected!

Great set of photos! Some places are made for crowds, some aren't. When I go to a metal concert I don't hope that I'm the only one in the mosh pit! Silver Falls is sort of a hiker's mosh pit most of the time but looks like you had the place to yourself anyway. I've never been there in the winter. Thanks for the trip report!ah23393 wrote:There were about four couples that we saw the whole time. there were a quite a few cars at the North Falls parking lot but hardly saw any people the whole time. Glad you could get out for an afternoon full of waterfalls
The only metal concert I ever went to had a good mosh pit going. I got obliterated by this huge guy everyone just called Chunk. Chunk ended up breaking a table or two if I remember correctly and was asked to leave sry for the thread drift

Thanks for the great TR! And lucky to go at such an uncrowded time. I went last midweek last May in the pouring rain, and we still ran into maybe two dozen people Maybe I'll have to try again now.

Definitely have Silver Falls on my list for when I get back up to the PNW. The trails look extremely manicured, so I was wondering about the difficulty level? Does it have challenging parts or is it really family friendly?

Extremely family friendly. There are a couple sections with stairs, and there are a few "low bridges" when in the caves behind the waterfalls. But not too many cliff-y sections at all, and those that are there are typically fenced a bit. (Don't let kids trust the fences, though!) For the most part, the trail is plenty broad enough for 2, or even 3, people to walk side by side.aquadoggie wrote:The trails look extremely manicured, so I was wondering about the difficulty level? There was a section near Drake Falls they had fixed earlier that day. The trail had eroded down to about 24 inches wide at one spot but they had it fixed and cleaned up by the time we made it. The whole trail was very well kept. We didn't walk all the way to north falls because of time but Im sure it was just as nice.
