2013: Back on the Trail, Again!

Post by kepPNW » January 7th, 2014, 7:28 pm

Looking back at 2013, I marvel at all the fun I had out in the woods, and the good friends I've made! I know I've posted effusively on this board, so I won't waste a bunch of words. Just wanted to go back and take a look at where I'd been, and leave an index for me to quickly find trail reports. Yes, I wrote most, but not all, of them! It ended up an astounding (to me) 647 miles, and about 169,000' of climbing, on 45 incredible hikes. Not a bad one among them. :)

What marvelous people and places filled your year! I always enjoy your TRs and pictures, although I think my favorite on from this batch is your tree-hugging selfie.

Very nice collection, Karl. It's like scrolling through a greatest hits of this area!

For 2014, I think I'm going to challenge you to get a little farther afield - Eagle Cap? Alpine Lakes? You don't need to pay for permits for the Enchantments if you dayhike it! :D

Thank you for good company on a number of hikes! My best outing in 2013 was undoubtedly our Rock Arch Snowshoe in March.

Well, others are doing longer breaks... My thoughts go out to Mayhen and I must admit that I have not done a real hike since August. :(
Some people are really fit at eighty; thankfully I still have many years to get into shape…

I'm truly grateful, yep. I guess I have friends across the spectrum. That photo was taken especially for all my right-leaning friends.

I would love to do that Enchantments dayhike! Gotta figure out the logistics. Would probably need to coax someone into just enjoying Leavenworth for a day, eh? I want to get back to Glacier Peak Wilderness this year, too!

Hard to stop smiling, even having "been there," yeah. :)

Y'know, try as we/I might, that one's been almost impossible to top! I still run a rotation of images from that hike as the wallpaper on my home machine. Every one of them brings back very good memories.
I think our run up South Sister was truly epic, too! Different, especially given (heh...) it was in the dark, under a new moon, guided in large part by Polaris. Those memories will never, ever fade, either.

Almost surely, the highest people in Oregon. No words necessary.
You were a great companion last year, Peder! I look forward to what sort of mischief and adventure we can get into this year!

What a great way of remembering the year - one pic for each trip. You had some great shots in that collection.

45 hikes and not a single one with me, what the hell Karl? :)
